QUALIFICATIONS:

Five or more years of progressive accounting, management and supervisory experience is required.  Higher education or not-for-profit is strongly preferred.  Applicant should process strong accounting technical skills and ability to research and formalize accounting treatment of significant transactions.  Must have experience with utilizing computer-based accounting systems, including having played a significant role in application implementation.  Must possess demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of the University and have demonstrated success as a creative and effective leader.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is required.  Master’s in related field, an MBA and/or CPA is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Philadelphia University seeks an experienced accounting professional with a strong commitment to quality customer service to manage the general and endowment accounting functions, financial reporting, accounts payable and payroll operations.  As a principal advisor to the Controller and a member of the Finance and Administration management team, the Assistant Controller is responsible for contributing to development and implementation of new initiatives, leading in the review and development of accounting policies and procedures, assisting in year-end close and annual audit, ensuring compliance with external regulations and playing a strategic role in assisting to identify opportunities for improvement.
