QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Nurse Practitioner/CRNP license held in the state of Pennsylvania required.  License must be in good standing.
  • National Board Certification in specialty required.
  • Clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner preferred. Experience within women’s health preferred.
  • Medical Provider CPR Certification and First Aid required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task, triage health problems adequately and handle medical emergencies expected.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Must work autonomously within job and have confidence to act independently in role.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduate from an accredited school with a nursing degree or similar field required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Philadelphia University Health Services is seeking a full time (10 month/year, 5 days/week) Nurse Practitioner (NP) to administer care to their college student population.  Responsibilities include providing direct patient care for urgent and sick visits as well as administering preventive care and chronic illness surveillance.  Visits will include complete physical exams, well women annuals, STI and pregnancy diagnosis and counseling. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Employs current standards of care for NPs when administering care
  • Works under the supervision of the Director of the Health Center and via collaborative agreement with MD group
  • Performs the follow up of more complex cases and abnormal laboratory results
  • Provides health education during visits, as well as for the Philadelphia University community as needed
  • Participates and collaborates on certain committees and in special activities that involve the Health Center/Division of Life
  • Handles billing problems based upon services provided in the Health Center
  • Works with student peer workers and engages in education and maintenance of peer-led programs developed within the Health Center

Physical and Mental Abilities Required:

This position exposes a person to communicable and infectious diseases.  It requires upper and lower body mobility, good vision and hearing, and moderate weight lifting (5-25 pounds). The pace within the Health Center is quick and this position requires someone who can sustain a rapid work pace, employ a good work ethic, effectively communicate with both staff and students, and handle the emotional and physical stresses associated with a swift work environment.
