QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must have outstanding reporting and writing skills and a keen understanding of social media and the ability to analyze and advance audience engagement. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of experience, preferably in journalism or higher education, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or English. Master’s degree preferred.

Candidates must be computer literate and have facility with web-based content management and communications tools, including Wordpress, PhotoShop and CampaignMonitor. Candidates must be able to adapt to evolving needs and communications vehicles and be a quick-learner.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations or English. Master's degree preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Philadelphia University seeks a full-time writer/social media associate eager to join its fast-paced Marketing and Public Relations department. This position is responsible for developing, writing and managing dynamic and engaging content for the University’s online news source, PhilaU Today, as well as contributing magazine features and assisting with media relations. The successful candidate will be responsible for further developing and managing a social media presence that supports the PhilaU brand, recruitment and fundraising goals. The ability to work quickly, accurately and meet deadlines is critical.

This position requires ongoing interaction with University administrators, faculty and students, and the ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of people is important. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with colleagues on a dynamic marketing/PR team. Other responsibilities, including assisting on major University events, will be assigned as needed, and occasional evening and weekend work hours will be required.
