Faculty Position

Title of Position:
Adjunct Instructor, Print Design Studio II

Status:
Part-time, one-semester contract

Department:
School of Design and Engineering

Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have an excellent understanding of creative textile design and will be qualified to teach the courses as outlined below. Each position requires exceptional communication skills and experience providing design critiques. Industry experience that includes creative-concept development through product-development is preferred. Experience teaching at the university-level is preferred.

Education Required:
A master’s degree or five or more years of experience in the textile design industry is required.

Responsibilities:
This faculty member will teach undergraduate students analog and digital methods to create textile designs in repeat from drawing, painting and photography (DSLR photography preferred). Instruction will also include: material (paper substrate) explorations for designing pattern on paper, Photoshop for textile design (input painted croquis, repeat making, editing, colorations, mapping, etc.), conceptual development to visualization for printed textile design, function of printed textile designs and collections.
