Faculty Position

Title of Position:
Assistant Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator, Master of Athletic Training Program

Status:
Full-time, 12 months

Qualifications:
•    Minimum of 3 years of experience as licensed, practicing athletic trainer is required.
•    2-3 years teaching at the college-level is required.
•    Experience as a coordinator of clinical education of and/or preceptor for a CAATE-accredited program is preferred. Spell out CAATE?
•    The ability to conduct, publish and supervise original research and scholarship in areas of athletic training or a related field.
•    Must be certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification.
•    Must be licensed or be eligible for and secure a license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a condition of employment.
•    Knowledge and experience with CAATE accreditation standards and requirements is preferred.

Education Required:

An earned doctoral degree in athletic training or related field, such as kinesiology, exercise science, movement science, etc., from an accredited institution is required.

Applicants who are ABD (spell out?) may be considered. Long-term contracts and promotion are contingent upon attainment of the doctoral degree; attainment is necessary by the time the dossier is submitted. Master’s prepared applicants will be hired at the rank of lecturer.

Responsibilities:
Clinical education coordinator oversees students’ clinical progression; locates and evaluates clinical sites, ensuring that all proper paperwork is on file for clinical affiliation; ensures that students have all proper documentation to enter into clinical phase; evaluates students; and trains and evaluates clinical preceptors. Local business travel is required. The clinical educator coordinator will also have a 75 percent teaching load in the M.S. in Athletic Training program. Candidate must maintain clinical practice outside of the University.
