Faculty Position

Title of Position:
Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric

Status:
Full-time, 9-months, tenure-track

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching writing and rhetoric at the college level. Experience teaching full time is preferred. A record of strong scholarship in the candidate’s field(s) of expertise, as well as demonstrated engagement in the pedagogy of writing, is required. Expertise in a secondary area, such as media/multimedia/visual studies civic engagement, professional writing, multilingualism and/or culture studies, is a plus.

Education Required:
Candidate must have a research doctorate or a foreign equivalent to a U.S. research doctoral degree in rhetoric and composition or related field.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach first-year writing courses and upper-level general education writing courses; take a leadership role in the coordination of first-year writing courses and other relevant first-year experience opportunities; and have opportunities to develop undergraduate interdisciplinary courses in the general education core. The standard teaching load is 12 credits per semester, with reductions for administrative roles.
