BLAW-301 - Business Law I

This page contains information about the information literacy activities for BLAW-301 students. BLAW-301, Business Law I is required course for all SBA students. On this page students will find information about the instructor expectations for each student with respect to developing better research skills. In BLAW-301 business students will develop the following information literacy skills:

bulletgain familiarity with additional business research databases (Emerald)
bulletuse FirstSearch's WorldCat database to find books related to a research topic (and if necessary use Interlibrary Loan or EZ-Borrow to obtain the book from another library)
bulletlearn to create an annotated bibliography with properly formatted citations using APA format
bulletidentify search strategies used to search databases
bulletthink critically about choosing articles for inclusion in a bibliography
bulletevaluate the quality of articles retrieved in an online search
bulletimprove knowledge of and ability to create properly formatted citations

These skills will be developed through research and the preparation of an annotated bibliography that is going to be prepared as part of the term research project for this course.

The course syllabus explains the information literacy component of the project in detail. A resource guide has been prepared, along with a sample bibliography, to assist BLAW-301 students to complete the required research and project for this course.
