INFO-101 Introduction to Information Systems

This page contains information about the information literacy activities for INFO-101 students. On this page you'll find information about the instructor expectations for each student with respect to developing better research skills. In these activities we will focus on the following skills:

bulletunderstanding the difference between electronic library resources and Internet resources
bulletunderstanding the library catalog and what it is used for
bulletgaining familiarity with a basic business information database
bulletgaining familiarity with fundamental principles of search engine searching
bulletdeveloping better technique for citing information

Here are some things you'll be doing during this activity:

bullettaking an information literacy pre-test and post-test
bulletparticipating in a lab session on research skills
bulletcompleting a library and Internet research exercise
bulletusing skills learned in the exercise on a final activities project

To complete the information literacy requirements for this activity one of the things you'll need to do is take the research exercise. There is a link here to a WORD version of the document. Don't complete the exercise until the instructor tells you about the lab session.
