E822 - Microeconomics

This page contains information about the information literacy activities for E822 students. E822, Microeconomics is a required course for all SBA students. On this page students will find information about the instructor expectations for each student with respect to developing better research skills. In E822 business students will develop the following information literacy skills::

bulletgain familiarity with additional business research databases (focusing on economic research
bulletunderstand how "commercial" library databases differ from "free" Internet resources
bulletlearn to locate journals in the library using PhilaFind, the library catalog
bulletdevelop the ability to articulate research questions and transform those questions into search statements appropriate for database research
bulletconstruct higher level search strategies
bulletevaluate the quality of articles retrieved in an online search
bulletimprove knowledge of and ability to create properly formatted citations

These skills will be developed through an exercise that all E822 students will complete. E822 instructors will lead the class through a demonstration of the application of the search skills, and students will conduct their searches and complete the exercise as an out-of-class assignment.
