T101 - Survey of the Textile Industry

literacy project for T101 students. On this page you'll find information about
the instructor expectations for each student with respect to developing better
research skills. In this course we will focus on the following skills:
 | defining the research problem |
 | identifying various sources of textile information |
 | developing keywords to search for textile information |
 | critical reading of information; assessment and evaluation of information |
 | proper documentation of information source |
 | organization and presentation of information, culminating in a
bibliography |
Here are some things you'll be doing in this course:
 | doing a written exercise to guide you in the location, access, and
evaluation of textile information sources, both printed and electronic |
 | using University e-mail to correspond with the librarian liaison to the
School of Textiles |
 | using PhilaFIND, Gutman Library's the online catalog |
 | looking at print publications physically held by the Library |
 | looking at textile information located on the World Wide Web |
