What is the Assignment Manager? The Assignment Manager is a new tool that combines the file submission capabilities of the Digital Drop Box with the organization and management of the Grade Center. You can post an assignment, either typed directly into Blackboard or as an attached file, to which the students then view and submit their response. Once the students have submitted the assignment, you can review the submissions, post replies directly to the students and automatically place the grade in the Grade Center. |

Why should I use the Assignment Manager instead of the Digital Drop Box? The Assignment Manager not only ties together the assignment hand-in and the Grade Center, but it also acts as a more efficient organizational structure for electronically submitted assignments. It's an easy way for students to check their grade on the one assignment and for you to grade them. |

The Digital Drop Box is a tool that allows instructors to collect assignments from students electronically. The students submit the file via their Digital Drop Box and then you can review them at the appropriate time. Any file may be sent via the Digital Drop Box. The only limit is whether or not you have the appropriate program available to view the file. You also have the ability to send students files via the Digital Drop Box. If the file needs to be viewed by the entire class, you may be better off posting it to Blackboard in one of the Content Areas. Many faculty have found that when sending files to students it is easier to e-mail them the file rather than using the Digital Drop Box. Either option is valid, just remember to tell your students how you will be sending them their files so they look in the correct place. |
How do I use the Digital Drop Box? Faculty access the Digital Drop Box from the Control Panel, whereas students access the Digital Drop Box from the Tools menu button. |
How do my students use the Digital Drop Box? A step-by-step guide for showing students how to use the Digital Drop Box can be found here. Feel free to link to this tutorial from your Blackboard course so that your students have easy access to it. |
