Writing Tutoring

At the Learning & Advising Center, we regard writing tutoring as a resource for writers of all abilities. Our trained, professional writing tutors assist Philadelphia University undergraduate and graduate students with writing assignments for any course, at any stage of the writing process.

Meeting one-on-one, tutors help students with specific writing issues such as:
  • understanding the assignment and figuring out how to begin
  • organizing ideas
  • generating a thesis
  • improving drafts and revising papers
  • using sources effectively and documenting them correctly

We can also help with more general issues, such as moving from high school to college writing, the challenges of argument, techniques of collaborative writing, and strategies for organizing papers of different lengths and papers for different audiences.

We cannot edit and proofread your work for you, but we can discuss your concerns about grammar or sentence structure and offer suggestions for improvement in these areas.

Call 215.951.2799 or drop by the Learning & Advising Center at Haggar Hall to make a writing tutoring appointment.

Writing tutors send Feedback Summaries to professors regarding each writing tutoring session. Writing tutors are also available to facilitate writing workshops in and out of class.
