syllabus requirements
Faculty have agreed to the following requirements concerning all university syllabi:
- It is the responsibility of each faculty member to prepare and distribute a current syllabus at the beginning of each course. A course syllabus should be available to students entering late upon request.
- Each syllabus will contain the following information:
- Course name, number, semester offered, School/Program, prerequisite(s)
- Professor’s name, office location, phone number, office hours
- Course description and goals
- Required text(s) and/or supplies
- Course outline (weekly, if possible) including exams, major assignments, projects
- Grade evaluation breakdown and related policies
- Professor’s specific academic integrity policy with a link to the University’s overall academic integrity policy (posted at www.philau.edu/learning)
- Professor’s policies on lateness, makeup work, absenteeism
- Information on digital resources, e.g. a course system site, materials placed on electronic reserve, class email distribution lists, and course-specific websites. If no digital course supplements are being used, the syllabus should indicate as much.
- Information about the University's Academic Support services
- Updated copies of all syllabi should be kept on file in the School/Department office, the Library, and the Learning and Advising Center.
