peer tutor application


Peer Tutor Job Description

Tutors work with students one-on-one and in small groups to assist them in their coursework.  (Hours:  Flexible, 2 - 20 hours per week.)

Requirements

Applicants must

  1. have at least a 3.0 in the course(s) to be tutored;
  2. have a Professor's recommendation for the course(s) to be tutored;
  3. have an overall strong and stable GPA;
  4. possess excellent interpersonal skills and patience;
  5. be willing to learn new tutoring techniques and study strategies;
  6. learn new material in the course(s) to be tutored when necessary;
  7. be proficient in the course(s) to be tutored and possess the ability to effectively relay information to other students;
  8. possess a strong sense of responsibility and commitment;
  9. be aware of issues of confidentiality;
  10. maintain on-going communication with the Tutorial Coordinator;
  11. attend scheduled tutor workshops.

Application Process

Applicants must

1) Complete the Tutor Application

include completed Faculty Recommendations for the courses to be tutored
include an unofficial copy of your transcript

2) Be interviewed by the Tutorial Coordinator
