Peer Tutor Job Description
Tutors work with students one-on-one and in small groups to assist them in their coursework. (Hours: Flexible, 2 - 20 hours per week.)
Requirements
Applicants must
- have at least a 3.0 in the course(s) to be tutored;
- have a Professor's recommendation for the course(s) to be tutored;
- have an overall strong and stable GPA;
- possess excellent interpersonal skills and patience;
- be willing to learn new tutoring techniques and study strategies;
- learn new material in the course(s) to be tutored when necessary;
- be proficient in the course(s) to be tutored and possess the ability to effectively relay information to other students;
- possess a strong sense of responsibility and commitment;
- be aware of issues of confidentiality;
- maintain on-going communication with the Tutorial Coordinator;
- attend scheduled tutor workshops.
Application Process
Applicants must
1) Complete the Tutor Application
| include completed Faculty Recommendations for the courses to be tutored |
| include an unofficial copy of your transcript |
2) Be interviewed by the Tutorial Coordinator
