Alumni Services

Alumni are welcome to use the Gutman Library’s print and media collections, which are strong in the areas of textiles, fashion, architecture, and design. Secondary strengths of the collection are business, engineering, and science and health. An alumni card is needed to gain entry to the building, and for book borrowing eligibility.

Getting an Alumni Card

Contact the Alumni Office at (v)215-951-2710 or (f)215-951-2569, or email alumni@PhilaU.edu and request the card.

Alumni may also request a card in person at the Alumni Office (Reichlin House, 2nd Floor), Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

  • Please allow at least 24-hours for the card to be processed and activated
  • Once the card is processed and activated, you may pick up the card at Kanbar Campus Center’s Welcome and Information Desk (please bring a valid photo I.D. with you. Click here for Kanbar Campus Center’s hours)
  • Only provides alumni with access to the Gutman Library and the Kanbar Campus Center
  • The first alumni library card is free but lost cards that need to be replaced will result in a $25 fee

For Borrowing Priveleges

Stop by the Gutman Library and complete a patron registration form, so that you can begin checking out materials.

Study Rooms

Alumni who present a currently valid alumni library card may use a study room as long as no current students are waiting to use a room. If alumni are using a study room, we reserve the right to ask that the room be made available to any waiting students. There is a limit of four hours for use of a study room. Alumni may not reserve a study room in advance.

Computer Use

There is a PC behind the Reference Desk reserved for anyone who wants to check the library’s catalog. Electronic databases are not available to alumni. The remaining library computers require a currently valid network account for access. Therefore, we are unable to provide general access to the Internet, word processing, spreadsheet or other software.

Interlibrary Loan

Due to agreements and shared policies, Gutman Library is currently unable to offer Interlibrary Loan Service to alumni. Reference staff can try and identify local libraries holding specific items. Those who need a referral to a fee-based document delivery service may contact us for this information, or alumni can contact a local public library.

Reference Services

Alumni may make reference requests by calling the Gutman Library Reference Department (215-951-2848) or emailing: reference@philau.edu.
