Distance Learning Coordinator

Gail
Austin, BS, MEd. Gail has had extensive work in the
educational field, having been a classroom teacher, reading
specialist, assistant language arts coordinator, computer
specialist, school web club sponsor, college instructor,
educational consultant, and corporate trainer. Her work here
at Philadelphia University as the Distance Learning
Coordinator is to assist both faculty and students as they
work with the technology in this online program.
Gail’s earlier experiences in distance education included
several years in the Cradleboard Teaching Project where
secondary students in her school used First Class and CU-See
Me software to communicate with children in different Native
American schools for the purpose of understanding cultural
diversity and historical perspective. She also participated
in a Pennsylvania Link to Learn grant, which allowed
students to enhance their classroom learning via video
conferencing with other schools and corporate sites.
“As technology enlarges our world, we have such a wonderful
opportunity to connect with each other. It is through these
connections that all of us will have a better understanding
of who we are and what we hope to accomplish. My goal is to
train students to use our Lotus Notes software and to assist
in whatever way I can to make this online graduate
experience both informative and pleasant.
During my time here I have found the faculty and staff at
the Philadelphia University to be committed to providing the
most up-to-date information while helping their students
achieve their personal best as they interact with others in
obtaining their graduate midwifery education. I feel honored
to be a part of a program that has implications for women
far greater than what we can imagine.”
Gail lives in West Chester, PA, has two grown sons, and
continues to be a lifelong learner. She truly enjoys the “teachable moments” in life. |
