Classes begin twice a year, in
fall and spring. Admission into the
program is on-going. To be eligible
for admission to The Midwifery
Institute of Philadelphia
University, you must:
- Submit a professional resumé or CV
- Be a registered nurse currently licensed in the state in
which you work and/or in the state you plan to do clinical
- Hold a baccalaureate or higher degree in any discipline
with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher
- Have completed a 3-credit Physical Assessment course
(or equivalent) within five years of your start date, with a
grade of “B” or better
- Completion of a three-credit statistics course
- Have a written promise of a clinical site with a nurse
midwifery preceptor
- Own a computer and have Internet access
- Submit two letters of reference
- Submit official transcripts from all undergraduate and
graduate courses
- Submit a written essay
- Complete an interview with one of our faculty
Official standardized test scores (GRE or the MAT)
recommended but NOT REQUIRED.
In addition, one year of nursing experience is strongly
recommended. It is also strongly recommended that some of
this experience be in maternal, child, or women’s health
nursing.
Qualified applicants will be granted a telephone interview
by a Philadelphia University faculty member. The Admissions
Committee will also consider an interview conducted by
your nurse-midwifery preceptor in reviewing your application
for admission.
