Residence Hall Technology
Philadelphia University residence halls are equipped with technology to keep students entertained and educated in their time away from class. With wireless Internet and cable TV students are able to keep up to date with their class assignments and favorite television shows.
Wireless Internet in the Residence Halls
Philadelphia University provides wireless Internet in all of the residence halls. Wireless Internet is accessible for all students and members of the University. For directions on how to connect to the University Network visit the Register Device webpage.
(Note: Personal wireless printers are not supported on campus unless plugged in through USB)
Students may also visit the Laptop Clinic in the basement of the Gutman Library to get hands on support for connecting technology to the University wireless Internet. For more wireless support information contact the Technology Help Desk.
Wired Connections in the Dorms
For higher-bandwidth devices a "Wired Internet Connection" might be required or recommended. Every dorm room has a wired connection that can be accessed with a normal Ethernet cable. (Sold in the University Bookstore)

Cable TV Alternatives
There are a variety of third party solutions available to watch and stream content through your computer or from the Internet onto a TV. These include, but are not limited to:
|Netflix||Netflix's streaming service for $7.99 a month carries hundreds of movies and TV shows viewable on most mobile devices.|
|Hulu||Hulu has current episodes of TV shows with limited commercials.|
|Crackle||Watch full-length Hollywood movies & TV shows on mobile devices. Free and on demand.|
|AppleTV||Connect to the iTunes Store to have access to current and old TV shows and movies. All in HD. All on your TV.|
|Roku||Use popular services like Hulu, Netflix, HBO GO, and Amazon on Demand through your TV.|
|HBO GO||With any HBO subscription comes HBO GO. A place you can watch all of the content on HBO on most mobile devices.|
There are no hard phone lines in the Residence Halls. Students must use cellphones or Skype to communicate over the telephone.
