Student Event Information

OIR encourages students to hold on-campus events. School events can be a fun and enjoyable learning experience for the students.

Instructional Media Services and OIR can provide students with many devices to help facilitate the event, such as cameras, extra speakers, microphones, netbooks, laptops, Podium PC, and Computer Carts. But a student must have sponsor. That sponsor can be a club sponsor, a professor, or staff member.

If a student wishes to host an event on campus they must place a work order to the Technology Help Desk. The individual that places the work order will be responsible for placing the support request and acting as the point of contact for the event.

How to Get OIR Help

Students experiencing trouble with a piece of equipment checked-out from IMS should contact the Technology Help Desk. Once notified of the issue an OIR staff member will work to resolve the issue quickly and efficiently.

Students should also contact the Technology Help Desk if they require assistance with equipment use or setup, or are having trouble accessing one of the various software packages on University computers. A Help Desk Agent will dispatch an OIR Technician to help resolve the issue immediately.

Kanbar Information

If a student wishes to have an event held in the Kanbar Campus Center, that student must place a work order to the Technology Help Desk.

That student must have a sponsor, which can be a club sponsor, a professor, or staff member. A student must have a willing and able faculty or staff sponsor ready when placing a work order to the Technology Help Desk.

That individual will be responsible for placing the support request and acting as the point of contact for the event. If there are any issues that occur in the Kanbar Campus Center notify the Technology Help Desk.

A Help Desk Agent will inform a Kanbar Campus Center staff member immediately of any dilemma students may have and that staff member will be dispatched to help resolve the issue immediately.

Podium Information

Philadelphia University students are able to utilize the Podium PC and Computer Carts that exist around the university campus. To log onto these computers enter Yourusername/Password, which is the student's last name and the last four numbers of their student ID.

The Podium PC and Computer Carts will also contain various pieces of equipment that will also expand the student’s use of technology. Fixed to the various Podium PC and Computer Carts are DVD players, a cable to attach a VGA capable laptop, VHS player, and a Document Camera.

All of these devices are all connected to the ceiling mounted projectors that will allow users to display PowerPoint lectures, videos, and documents.

If a student requires assistance with podium use or setup for an event please contact the Technology Help Desk.

Policies

OIR is always looking for the most up-to-date equipment for the University environment to utilize. Because of this we have different policies in place for different items with our Red, Blue, and Specialty tag system.

If a student wishes to hold an event on campus, the student must have a sponsor. That sponsor can be a club sponsor, a professor, or staff member. For information on item and event policy please contact the Media Services Desk through the Technology Help Desk.
