Faculty and Staff Personal Computing Support

The Office of Information Technology provides limited computer support for off-campus personal systems.  Staff and faculty accessing our services must be a currently employed by Philadelphia University.

Hardware/Printer Support

The Office of Information Technology does not provide hardware support for personal machines or printers; however, we have an agreement with The Computer Fixer to provide these services. The Computer Fixer offers discounted rates for Philadelphia University staff and faculty, fast turn-around time, detailed estimates prior to repairing, certified experienced technicians, and two convenient locations for carry-in (Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania.) The Computer Fixer is also an authorized warranty repair center for various PC manufacturers. To find out more please click here.

Software Support

  • Microsoft Campus Agreement

The Microsoft Campus Agreement is an annual licensing program specially created to address the unique needs of higher education institutions. The Campus Agreement gives higher education institution employees the right to run the licensed software on all their home computers for a 12-month period, and automatically licenses all upgrades of the software throughout the term of the Agreement.

 

Windows Operating System Upgrades (i.e., Windows Vista)

Microsoft Office (i.e., Office 2007 for PC, Office 2008 for MAC)

Miscellaneous Software (i.e., OneNote, Visio, Project, etc.)

University Computer and Peripheral Purchase Program

The Office of Information Technology is pleased to announce that three major suppliers of computing hardware, Dell, Gateway and Apple, have agreed to extend higher education discount pricing to Philadelphia University students, staff, and faculty. Faculty and staff will be required to provide proof of affiliation with a valid Philadelphia University ID.

Products from both companies are available for purchase using the following methods:

  • Computer Purchase Program through Payroll Deduction:

 

The University offers a computer purchase program through payroll deduction.  This program offers no-interest loans to employees for the acquisition of computers.  Full-time faculty, full and part-time administrators and staff are eligible for this program.  For more information about this benefit, please click here.  Please download and complete both forms below:

Computer Eligibility Form - Must be submitted to the Human Resources Office.

Computer Purchase Plan Documents - Must be submitted to the Payroll Office.

Questions regarding configuration and hardware specifications should be directed to the respective vendor. Each retail store has an inventory of computers in various configurations that should address a wide variety of needs.
