OT Online Information Sessions (for prospective students interested in applying for the 2013-14 academic year): Register for an upcoming online information session about the PhilaU Occupational Therapy Program (go to Graduate Admissions, Information Sessions, to register). The session begins with a 30-minute overview and is followed with live questions and answers. If you are unable to attend, these sessions will be recorded and can be viewed at any time. To Apply: Applicants for the 2013 entering class should apply online using the OTCAS application. For more information about OTCAS click here. The PhilaU applicant deadline is February 1, though candidates are encouraged to apply early due to rolling admissions. Applications can be submitted to OTCAS after August 1. Applications received after the deadline date will be considered, subject to space availability in the entering class. Admission letters will be distributed beginning in December. All information is entered on OTCAS; no supplementary materials are required.
List of Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree: minimum overall 3.0 grade point average
Upon matriculation, official transcripts of all previous undergraduate or graduate study must be provided to the PhilaU Graduate Admission’s Office. - Two letters of reference: one academic and one professional.
- Documentation of work and volunteer experiences: highlight achievements, recognitions, accomplishments
- Documentation of minimum 20 hours of clinical observation under the supervision of an occupational therapist
- Career goals statement/ personal essay: 500 words or less
Describe how you became interested in Occupational Therapy, and the qualities you possess that will enable you to be a successful student in this program, and practitioner in the field. - Results of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) www.gre.com OR Miller Analogies Test (MAT) milleranalogies.com (Philadelphia University code: 2666).
Candidates with GRE scores of 950 or greater (minimum 151 each on Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning on new, revised GRE) or MAT scores of 400 or greater will receive primary consideration. Candidates’ application packets will only be reviewed after the GRE or MAT scores are received by the university. - OT Program prerequisite courses: at least "B-" in each of the seven prerequisite courses.
In order for the Admission Committee to review a candidate's application, final grades for at least 4 prerequisite courses (including a minimum of 2 science courses) must be completed.
An average 3.0 GPA or higher in prerequisite courses is an admission requirement (minimum grades of "B-" in each course). Courses may be completed at any accredited institution. All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to enrolling in OT coursework.
