ELECTRONIC MENTORING
The
Philadelphia University Occupational Therapy Program instills a commitment
to enhancing competence through life-long professional development.
- Mentors link with students through the program's voluntary Internet-based mentor program. Students choosing to participate may receive extra credit in relevant courses.
- Students can choose their own mentors or are paired with practicing OTs who are interested in mentoring. Periodic contact through e-mail and course web pages with a practicing
OT provides students with an additional professional's perspective, as well as exposure to the world of OT practice.
- Students engage in a series
of structured interchanges with their mentors that help to nurture professional
collaboration and a commitment to lifelong learning.
"I have enjoyed
the relationships that have been built online, and believe in this type of
venue for students to have other perspectives towards their assignments, as
well as to assist in their new professional roles as caregiver/ healer."
