STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

NATIONAL BOARD FOR CERTIFICATION IN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY(NBCOT)

Certification Exam Pass Rate: 

January 1, 2004 to December 1, 2007: 

Program Graduates (34) achieved 91% first-time test taker pass rate on the NBCOT certification exam (31 of the 34 first-time test takers passed).  The national average for first time takers on the exam was 88%. 

The Program's overall pass rate (first-time test takers and test retakers) is 100%.

 

MASTER'S PORTFOLIO PRESENTATIONS:  Congratulations to the Class of 2008

Faculty and students of the University's MS in Occupational Therapy Program gathered for the Class of 2007 Master’s Portfolio Presentations on Friday, June 15, 2007.

Members of the University community had an opportunity to view the many creative portfolios that chronicled the development of individual students. 

The students' capstone projects weave together two years of study to highlight students’ critical thinking and professional beliefs.

Congratulations to the following graduates on their accomplishments!

 

Nikkol Simms received the Francis Swift Scholarship Award which is awarded annually to one OT student in the nation by the Black Occupational Therapy Caucus.

Arthur Yeager won first prize in the Maddock Competition for his invention of a wheelchair braking device.

Jennifer Shivers and Bridget Trivinia, presented their first national paper. Bridget and Jen co-presented a juried paper entitled "Client-centered Advocacy Resource Files-A Tool to Support Transitions" at the AOTA annual conference with Susan Haiman and Ellen Kolodner.

Patricia Chialastri, MS, MBA, OTR/L published an article: Assisted Living Facilities-Function or Fiction? in the AOTA Gerontology Special Interest Section Quarterly, Volume 24, 1-4. (Ellen Kolodner was co-author).
