Occupational Therapy Clinical Doctorate

About the Program

Refocus.... Redefine... and Reimagine Your Professional Potential

The PhilaU post-professional clinical doctoral program is designed for occupational therapists who are ready to advance their knowledge, practice and careers. As a student in the program, you will apply best-practice evidence, build innovative programs, design services, work effectively on inter-professional teams, and strengthen leadership roles.

This innovative post-professional OTD has two tracks:  the BS-to-OTD track or MS-to-OTD track. Refer to the Program of Studies (right side menu) for the course sequence for both tracks.

Today’s healthcare environment requires therapists to be leaders who advocate for the profession and the clients they serve. The PhilaU OTD offers a unique focus on establishing collaborative partnerships in healthcare and education, while supporting therapists to meet their own goals for professional advancement. You will customize your PhilaU OTD degree by selecting a three-course minor to inform your capstone experience and match your practice roles, contexts and career objectives.

PhilaU’s signature teaching method, called Nexus learning, emphasizes collaborative partnerships and applied learning. A primary goal of the OTD is for therapists to apply new knowledge and enrich their practice. In every course student projects are designed with real world applications. As a student in the program you will have opportunities to build on your professional experiences by working alongside peers to develop products and and provide services that help people to live as fully and independently as possible.
