LAWRENCE P. CAREY, PHARM.D.

Dr. Carey comes to Philadelphia University’s PA program after serving as senior medical information specialist at a leading medical education and communications firm. He also has worked extensively in clinical pharmacy practice. Dr. Carey received his BS in pharmacy in 1989 and doctor of pharmacy degree in 1993 from Temple University School of Pharmacy in Philadelphia, and completed a postgraduate residency at Temple University Hospital. He practiced in critical care pharmacy from 1989-1993.

Dr. Carey has spent the majority of his clinical career in ambulatory care and home care pharmacy practice, first as a clinical pharmacist, then as a coordinator and supervisor of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s home infusion service in Philadelphia, with primary practice areas of infectious diseases and nutritional support. During that time, he developed a semester-long course on the practice of home infusion therapy for doctor of pharmacy candidates at Temple University School for Pharmacy, and has taught the course since its inception.

Dr. Carey chaired the Pennsylvania Society of Health-system Pharmacists’ home care section for 3 years, and has served the pharmacy community through association involvement on the national level.
