Philadelphia University’s Public Relations department works to increase awareness, understanding and support of Philadelphia University’s vision, mission and accomplishments. Working with the President, deans, academic administrative leaders, faculty and staff, PR provides communications services and support — significantly contributing to the advancement of the University’s image/brand as it relates to its target audiences, local community and internal and external constituents.

Included in the department’s activities are market research, brand management, advertising, all internal and external publications and communications, creative services, web site development and management, media relations, community relations, special events, as well as speech writing and official correspondence.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to contact Public Relations for any communication or promotional needs at 215.951.2851. More detail and contact information on specific services is below:

Publications

The department develops and produces the University’s key publications, including PhilaU Today, Alumni Update, the Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs; as well as editorial, design, photography coordination and other support services for brochures, newsletters, ads, posters and other projects essential to communicating the University’s messages. To find out more about publications or to request assistance with the development of promotional materials, contact Freddi Ford, director of communications at 215.951.2855 or fordf@PhilaU.edu.

Media Relations

The department’s media relations specialist works with local, regional and national media to secure coverage for the University. Through strong relationships with faculty and staff, stories are identified and developed about academic programs, research initiatives, faculty accomplishments, general higher education topics and student life issues. Through the distribution of news releases, pitching and placing stories, arranging media visits and other forms of formal communication, this function seeks opportunities to position faculty and administrative executives as experts in their fields and increase exposure and awareness of the institution. For more information about the University’s media relations efforts or to report and interesting story idea, contact Debbie Goldberg, at 215.951.2718 or goldbergd@PhilaU.edu.

University Communications

The Office of Public Relations occasionally posts time-sensitive or event-specific messages not otherwise related to other areas of www.PhilaU.edu (e.g. Alumni pages, Athletics pages, etc.) from various University offices.

Web Communications

Averaging approximately 250,000 page views per month, the Philadelphia University website provides users with both an interactive experience and comprehensive reference. Virtually every aspect of University life is reflected in this nexus of online activity. Students, faculty and visitors can access general information about everything from programs to policies, services to special events.
