POLICIES:

Schedule Changes

Schedule changes must be made within five school days after the start of a semester (a corresponding period of time in summer sessions).

Applications for changes of program must be completed with the registrar, and no change can be effected without formal approval.

Please be advised that a modified policy regarding dropping and withdrawing from courses will be implemented beginning with the Fall 2006 semester.

A course may be dropped within 3 weeks from the start of a semester (a proportional period of time in summer sessions) via WebAdvisor. If a course is dropped during this period of time, the course will not be displayed on the record of the student, nor will any grade be given for the course.

A student attempting to drop a course betweenweek four and week ten of the semester must discuss their academic standing with the course faculty member or with their academic advisor.

After this discussion, if the student still wishes to drop the course, they must then complete a Course Withdrawal Form and obtain the signature of the course faculty member or their academic advisor, indicating that the student has been advised regarding the schedule change.

The student then must bring the approved Course Withdrawal request to the Office of the University Registrar, Archer Hall (or to Continuing Studies as appropriate) for processing. If approved, a student who drops a course between week four and week ten of the semester will receive a grade of "W" for the course, with the course and grade will be displayed on the transcript of the student.

Credit/No Credit Option

Students who wish to take a course on the "Credit/No Credit" basis must notify the Registrar's Office on the proper form by the last day for schedule changes.   Guidelines are available in the Registrar's Office or the Division of Continuing and Professional Studies to suggest when this option is and is not an advisable choice.

Audit a Course

Students must register for an "Audit" course the same as they would for any other course.  In addition, they must secure from the Registrar's Office or the Division of Continuing and Professional Studies a form requesting permission to audit.   The completed form must then be returned to the Registrar's Office by the last day for schedule changes.

Evening Courses for Day Students

Day division students wishing to take coursework in the evening during a regular fall or spring semester enroll for these courses through the same process as for day courses at pre-registration.  To add or drop an evening course, day division students go to the Registrar's Office.

Day students do not register for evening courses through the Division of Continuing and Professional Studies.

Maximum Course Load

The university has established a maximum load of 18 hours that may be taken in the fall or spring semesters.  No student may exceed that limit without the permission of the advisor and dean of the school responsible for the student's curriculum.

A maximum of 14 total credits may be taken during the summer, in any combination of day and evening courses.

Registration

Students are expected to register on the published dates for registration.   Fees are payable in advance or upon the registration date.  Late registrants will be charged a late registration fee.  Students will receive grades for all courses for which they are registered.
