The curriculum
at the School of Business is designed to
ensure our students are prepared for
successful careers in business throughout
their lives. Students and those outside the
academic community are often surprised to
learn that we change the content of courses,
the courses within programs, and other
aspects of the curriculum we offer. The
reason for the changes are simple. Business
changes, and the environment in which
business takes place changes. Our faculty
and others perform research that leads to
new insights and discoveries about how to
take advantage of new opportunities or fend
off threats. Updating curriculum to reflect
these changes is necessary to prepare our
graduates for their chosen professions.
Our Board of Visitors, comprised of business
practitioners in a variety of industries and
people active in a variety of capacities
helps direct the changes we make in our
curriculum. What better resource than those
working in the changing business environment
who apply the principles we teach in our
courses? This august group, in cooperation
with our faculty who have extensive
education and vast practical experience as
well, we constantly evaluate our curriculum
and change it to match current business
practices, and make full use of predicted or
expected changes.
In
2003, the State of Pennsylvania honored the top 50
Business Women in the state with an award. We are
exceedingly proud to note that two of these business
women are on our Board of Visitors.
