COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Introduction to Information Systems is a first-year business core course. An understanding of the principles of data processing and of the structure and operation of modern digital computers is developed through direct operation of the University's computing equipment. Business applications of the computer are emphasized, including the use of personal computers.
COURSE PREREQUISITES:
There are no prerequisites for this course.
COURSE OBJECTIVES & EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
To give the prospective manager, in any area, an understanding of the fundamentals of data and information processing as they relate to meeting the needs of an organization in immediate and long run operations. Emphasis will be upon the role of the computer as an integral part of this process, including a basic understanding of hardware, software and the interaction of these with people. Students will become familiar with how computers and some standard software applications can be used in making business decisions.
