BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION


Goals

  1. To be recognized within the region for excellence in the academic and professional preparation of business students.
    1. To be an undergraduate business school with a focus on the behavioral side of business by
      1. Focusing on Accounting and Finance; Management (including MIS and CIS); and Marketing (including Fashion Merchandising and Textile Management and Marketing)
      2. Cutting across these 3 functional areas with integrative programs in E-Commerce and International Business
      3. Integrating professional skills throughout the curriculum.
    2. To be a graduate business school with a focus on expanding the skills and abilities of both full-time and part-time students by:
      1. Offering unique 5th year MBA and MS-Tax programs for recent graduates of undergraduate business programs.
      2. Offering an accelerated approach to completion of the MBA degree to working mid-career adults.
      3. Offering a part-time MS-Tax program to accountants and tax professionals.
  2. To be recognized internationally for excellence in programming relating to the business of textiles and apparel.
    1. Solidify relationships with Reutlingen University and Monterrey Institute of Technology for faculty and student exchanges.
    2. Develop an "on-line" MBA with a concentration in Textile and Apparel Marketing.
    3. Develop executive education programs for the textile and apparel industries.
       
  3. To be recognized for a faculty who are engaged in the development of knowledge for business education.
    1. Emphasize applied and pedagogical research.
    2. Enhance expertise in applications of business functions (finance, accounting, management and marketing) to the textile and apparel industries.
    3. Emphasize each faculty member having an active research program resulting in regular yearly publications and presentations. The minimum goal for tenured faculty should be at least one journal article every five years. Candidates for tenure should have a more ambitious goal as per the tenure guidelines of the university. Similarly, alternate contract faculty should be guided by the guidelines of the university and school for five-year contracts
