Academic advising is
an integral part of
the University's
role in student
learning and
personal
development. In
their first year of
study at the
University, students
are assigned faculty
advisors with whom
they should maintain
regular contact.
Students and
advisors develop
ways for students to
meet educational
goals and identify
campus resources
that may enhance the
educational
experience.
Incoming, first-year
and transfer
students are
assigned advisors
through our Learning
and Advising Center.
A key tool in the
academic advising
model is the
Academic Alert
Program, through
which information
regarding students'
academic performance
is solicited from
faculty throughout
the year and
provided to faculty
advisors to aid them
and their students.
The advising center
is located in Haggar
Hall. The Director
of the
Learning and
Advising Center
is Ms. Faye Ross;
215-951-2730;
RossF@PhilaU.edu.
After completing
appropriate freshman
classes (first-year
students), or one
semester at
Philadelphia
University (transfer
students),
undergraduate
students are
assigned to
upper-division
faculty advisors in
their own schools.
The faculty advisor
depends on your
major. The goal at
the School of
Business is to match
each student with
someone
knowledgeable in the
field associated
with the selected
major. If you do
not know who your
advisor is, and you
are a business
student, please
contact
Dr. A. Lee Miller
(215-951-2906).
The School of
Business
Administration also
provides and
recommends advising
for our graduate
students.
