Business+ 2006 Competition

The School of Business Administration held the Business+  Tastykake New Product Launch Business Plan Competition on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, in the Tuttleman Center.  To qualify for this competition, freshmen enrolled in Managerial Accounting and Principles of Marketing, (Business+ courses), competed in semi-final amongst their individual classes.  The seven teams that competed in the finals were:

  • Butterscotch Icing (Ashley Domanski, Megan Hildwein, Ashley Lotito, Dana Watson);

  • Tasty Bakes (Hillary Hess, Amber Markee, Jeff Martin, P.J. O'Brien, Erin Satchell);

  • Tasty Kandy Bars (Deirdre Cerrati, Nicole Hutnyk, Nora Marshall, Keyshia Orlena, Jaclyn Perez);

  • Tastykake Break & Bakes (Stephanie Madeja, Rebekah Mangus, Rogerio Matos, Christopher Morris, Mariah Reehl);

  • Tastykake Buildables (Kristen Daly, Brett Verni, Vincent Catanzaro);

  • Tastykake Gluten-Free (Michael P. Dunn, Jacqueline D. Frazza, Kate L. Schnitzer);

  • ZooKakes (Bryan Clemonts, Barri Gibson, Vera Krass, Kristen Mahoney, James Rudnet).

Taking first places honors was the Butterscotch Icing team.  Second Place was awarded to Tastykake Buildables.  The competition was so competitive that there was a tie for third place.  This was shared by the Tasty Bakes and Tasty Kandy Bars teams.  Winning teams will share prizes of $1000, $750, and $250 respectively.  Honorable Mention certificates were awarded to the Tastykake Break & Bakes, Tastykake Gluten-Free, and ZooKakes teams.

Judges for this event were Johanna Hallman, Marketing Manager, Tasty Baking Company; Elmore Alexander, Dean, School of Business Administration; and three members of the School of Business Administration Advisory Board, Gregory Barsh, Esq.; Andrew Morrisroe, CTN Solutions, Inc.; and B. J. Zellers, UTZ Quality Foods Inc.

Business+ faculty members are : Stuart Borowsky, Samuel Bradley, Jason Crook, Steven Frumkin, C. Andrew Lafond, William McGarvey, Jr., and Raymond Poteau.
