Accounting Faculty
Stuart
Borowsky
is an Associate Professor of Accounting. He
earned his BA and MBA from Drexel University.
Stu is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania.
He has been a professor at Philadelphia University
for over 30 years. In addition, he has a private
accounting and consulting practice with clients
in an array of businesses and professions. His
primary area of expertise has been in the fast
food area servicing several McDonald's, Dunkin'
Donuts, and Burger King franchises. At present,
his focus is with a new home builder in Delaware
Valley. Over the years, his outside practice
has enabled him to bring the practical side
of accounting into the classroom. Professor Borowsky is the 2003 recipient of the
Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award, as well
as the 2003 School of Business Teaching Award.
In
October 2003 Professor Borowsky was the first
recipient of the Bertrand Hayward Alumni Award
given by the by the alumni to “a faculty
member who has had a profound influence on the
success of Philadelphia University alumni.”
Andrew Lafond is an
Assistant Professor of Accounting and Taxation at Philadelphia University. He received his DBA degree in Accounting at the University of Sarasota, his MBA from Drexel University, and his BS degree from LaSalle University. Andy is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania. He has over ten years of experience in teaching. He has also taught for a national CPA examination review course. His experience in public accounting includes over 15 years with national, regional and local firms including his own practice which provides accounting and tax services for a wide array of small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals.
Raymond Poteau
is a Full Professor of Accounting. He received his BBA from Temple University and his MBA from George Washington University. Ray is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania. After working in public accounting in the early part of his career, he was heavily involved in accounting and auditing in the health care and higher education fields for over a decade, serving as controller, auditor, and audit director in major not-for-profit teaching hospital and university environments. He has also been heavily involved as a teacher in national CPA examination review courses for over twenty years. He served as dean of Philadelphia University's School of Business Administration for five years before returning to his role on the faculty there. Professor Poteau received the
2001 Outstanding Accounting Educator by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. This award is given each year to one accounting academician in the state.
Jim Solano is an Associate Professor of Accounting. He received his
BS, MBA and MS at Temple University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania. Jim's professional and research interests include federal taxes and professional athlete contract negotiations. Jim has been a player agent since 1969 and has represented over 600 players and coaches.
