Meriel Tulante comes to Philadelphia from Harvard University where she finished her PhD in Italian Literature in 2006. She is working on revising her dissertation on the historical novels of the contemporary Italian author Sebastiano Vassalli into a book manuscript. Her other research interests include the Italian historical novel, Italian national identity, women's writing and Italophone writing.
