WHO ARE OUR PRE-MEDICAL STUDIES STUDENTS?
Although the majority of students enrolled in Pre-Medical Studies are interested in going to medical school the diverse and unique curriculum provides an excellent grounding for student success in entering a variety of health fields including dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine. Since the major was started in 2003, over 95% of graduating students have enrolled in their first choice of health care field. Eighty-one percent of the matriculating students have enrolled in doctorates in the following medical fields (statistics from 2003-2009 inclusive):

Student selections under “Biomedical doctorates” have included podiatry, optometry and physical therapy. Graduates entering PhD programs have selected clinically important majors such as molecular biology, pharmacology and microbiology most also on all-expenses paid scholarships. Of the remaining 19% of students, all have entered masters’ level programs such as public health and biomedical sciences that usually lead to entry to doctoral level programs after a further two years of study.
WHERE DO THEY GO?
Most graduating students from the Pre-Medical Studies Major are from the tri-state area and have opted for local schools. These have included University of Pennsylvania (Veterinary Program), Temple (Medicine and Pharmacy Programs), Thomas Jefferson (Medicine, Physical Therapy and Clinical Doctorate Programs), Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), Kornberg School of Dentistry, University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey (UMDNJ) and the University of Maryland. We also have articulation agreements with PCOM, Kornberg School of Dentistry (3+4 agreement), Logan University of Chiropractic Medicine (3+4 agreement) and Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Other schools students have attended have included East Virginia Medical School (EVMS), the New York and Virginia Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM, VCOM) as well as Case Northwestern and Lehigh University (Clinical Doctorates).
