The School of Continuing and Professional Studies at PhilaU offers specialized short courses and certificate programs to give you up-to-date training, hands-on experience and tools that will keep you at the forefront of your field, or help you explore a new interest.

With the recurring programs as well as special one-time seminars and corporate partnerships, we provide in-demand options that will help you stay ahead of the curve.















Basic Textiles Seminar 

This five-day seminar, held annually in May, provides an introduction to textile products from raw material through finished fabrics. Basic language, troubleshooting, process flow and performance characteristics of textile materials will be addressed. Instruction will be held in the classroom and using University equipment and laboratories.

Registration for this seminar is currently on hold during the construction of the Fashion and Textiles Futures Center. The next session is scheduled for May 2017.

Digital Surface Imaging and Textile Printing Workshop 

This four-day workshop, held annually in May, teaches participants the fundamentals of digital surface imaging and printed substrates. The design module introduces basic tools and techniques of digital imaging using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator design software; the printing module introduces state-of- the-art digital printer performance and maintenance, ink formulations and software.

Registration for this seminar is currently on hold during the construction of the Fashion and Textiles Futures Center. The next session is scheduled for May 2017.

SAS Programming Certificate for the Pharmaceutical Industry 

In collaboration with SAS Institute, this 12-week program offers state-of-the-art training for professionals interested in the dynamic field of clinical research. This three-month, non-credit program, offered annually in the fall, is designed for recent college graduates, professionals working in related fields and career-changers.

Surgical First Assisting at Caesarian Delivery Course 

This six-week, interactive, online course gives women’s health professionals the foundation necessary to become competent surgical assistants. Offered five times per calendar year, this course has been approved by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). Clinicians who successfully complete the course will receive six CEUs.
