
MISSION STATEMENT
The Department of Student Activities provides programs, facilities, resources and services to meet the needs of Philadelphia University. We strive to create events and involvement opportunities that foster student learning, contribute to campus life and better connect students to the University. While acting as principle advisors to our student organizations, we promote their growth and challenge them to take a more “hands on” role in their experiences by providing assistance with the design, management, implementation and assessment of their activities. The office values a climate that is open to all students. By encouraging student leadership, the Department of Student Activities cultivates standards, ethics and values, which enhance the community at Philadelphia University.
Department of Student Activities Philadelphia University LEARNING OUTCOMES
Based on the programs and services implemented by the Department of Student Activities, students will learn how to:
1. Be an active and informed citizen. 2. Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 3. Maintain a healthy lifestyle by balancing physical, emotional and social health 4. Understand basic concepts about leadership and followership 5. Utilize campus resources as well as become a campus resource themselves. 6. Understand and appreciate differences such as: culture, race, gender, class, religion, abilities and sexual orientation. 7. Collaborate with members of the Philadelphia University community. 8. Establish and articulate a vision for his/her organization. 9. Set and execute goals and objectives. 10 Practice ethical behavior. 11. Recruit, select, supervise and develop others within their organization. 12. Manage financial resources. 13. Practice effective Communication skills. 14. Understand and practice accountability. |
