Student Engagement

LGBTQ Student Life

Thomas Jefferson University is an accepting community, welcoming people of all cultures, religions and walks of life. One part of our community that we are proud to celebrate and support is our LGBTQ students, faculty and staff.

Like all of our student engagement programming, our LGBTQ programs and activities are student-created, -developed and -endorsed. Activities include Safe Zone training, Coming Out Day, the Gay-Straight Alliance’s trip to Outfest, our Annual Drag Show and Unity Week in the spring.

Scholarship Opportunity: The MarcDavid LGBTQ Scholarship

The MarcDavid LGBTQ Scholarship provides academic financial support to an undergraduate student at Jefferson who demonstrates active leadership and advocacy for LGBTQ causes.

Students are eligible to receive the scholarship beginning in their sophomore year. Preference shall be given to students with financial need, but leadership and advocacy for the LGBTQ community, inside and/or outside the Jefferson community, is paramount.

Applicants are required to fill out an application with an essay component, and get a letter of recommendation.

*Current Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are eligible to apply. Applications are due by November 8, 2019 and the scholarship will go into effect for the Spring semester 2020.
