Confidentiality

 


All counseling sessions are conducted with the utmost regard to confidentiality and all records kept by Counseling Services are confidential - meaning that the information shared with a counselor is not released to anyone outside the Counseling Services office. Information can be released under the following exceptions:

  • If the student gives written permission to disclose information (In that instance, the student determines what information is to be released and to whom.)
  • If a student presents a danger to himself/herself or to another person.

Students meeting with a counselor are encouraged to discuss any concerns that they have about confidentiality.
