Cooperative education (co-op) is an optional academic program
designed to enrich students' educational experience by providing
them with salaried work experiences related to their majors,
minors or career goals. Co-op students are placed in either full
or part-time positions. They may elect to receive credit for
their placement or they may participate in the non-credit
option.
Above Elena Vetere is showing the work she did during her
recent co-op to her professor.
"I spent this summer in
Spartanburg, SC working as an intern in the Automotive Division
of Milliken & Company. As a Textile Design major, I went into
this position having experience in printing, weaving, knitting,
and various CAD systems. In my job I researched brand identity,
created CAD simulations, and had my designs circular knitted
and finished.
Other projects consisted of redesigning the product display at
the print plant, creating original print designs, compiling a
reference book for the print designers, organizing the
automotive print library, and assisting the designers."
