Sigma Nu Fraternity Bikes for a Cure
Philadelphia University’s Sigma Nu fraternity
brothers raised more than $1,200 for breast cancer
research during their Bike for a Cure
fundraising event, April 11 and 12 on campus.
Twenty-one members of the Mu Pi
Chapter took turns
riding a stationary bike for 36 hours straight to raise funds to help
fight breast cancer. Members of the campus
community, local residents and others stopped by the
event to cheer the fraternity on and make
donations. All proceeds from the bike-a-thon
benefited the
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of
Philadelphia.
“The total is a testament to the
Chapter’s dedication to the cause,” said Sigma Nu Mu
Pi Chapter President Vince Lattanzio. “We also set a
new record for mileage this year -- a total of 720
miles,” he added.
The bike-a-thon,
which took place outdoors on the campus’s Stone
Stage near the Paul J. Gutman Library, also featured
free food donated by Dining Services and breast
cancer awareness activities organized by Health
Services. Held annually, Bike for a Cure has been sponsored by
the fraternity for at least six years.
