Philadelphia University Unveils Ram Mascot at Commencement Eve Picnic

Hundreds of graduating Philadelphia University students and their families kicked off the Commencement Eve Picnic with the unveiling of the Ram Mascot May 19.

Positioned outside the Athletic and Recreation Center near Philadelphia University Drive, the bronze Ram, a gift from the classes of 2006 and 2007, stands nine feet tall and weighs approximately 1,800 pounds.

At the unveiling, students and their families enjoyed remarks from President James P. Gallagher, Ph.D., Student Government Association President Vince Lattanzio ’07 and Senior Class President Damien Franze ’07. Guests then posed for photographs with the Ram before heading into The Kanbar Campus Center for a picnic buffet.

The Ram has been the official mascot of Philadelphia University’s men’s and women’s athletic teams since 1958.
