Philadelphia University Names New
Dean of Students
Mark W. Govoni, has been named the new dean of
students at Philadelphia University. The
appointment, which was announced by Jane Antheil,
vice president for Enrollment and Student Affairs,
is effective as of Monday, July 23.
“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Govoni to campus," said
Dr. Antheil. “Given his vast experience, he will be
a great addition to the University.”
Most recently, Dr. Govoni served as dean of students
at Averett University in Virginia, where he oversaw
all student life functions. Prior to Averett, he was
dean of students at Carleton College where he
restructured the division of student affairs,
created a class dean program, chaired the planning
committee for a $16 million recreation center and
developed a comprehensive building and renovation
program for student housing, among many other
initiatives.
Dr. Govoni received a Ph.D. and M.A. in English from
Ohio University and a B.A. in English from Fairfield
University. He has done post-doctoral work at the
Aspen Institute, the Institute for Educational
Management at Harvard University and the University
of Texas.
The University welcomes Dr. Govoni to
