Midwifery Program Receives Grant

The Midwifery Institute of Philadelphia University received a $31,296 grant for advancement in nursing education through traineeships for students who pursue work in medically underserved areas after graduation from The Health Resources and Services Administration, a governmental agency.

“This grant means a lot to our students, who tend to work in underserved areas after their graduation,” said Lillie Rizack, associate program director of Midwifery. “It relieves some financial pressure on them as they enter the clinical portion of their education.”

Traineeships are the clinical-education component of the Midwifery student’s curriculum. The grant will help students offset the cost of tuition and fees.
