Industrial Design graduate Bob Lewin ’07 recently received honorable mention for his RainDrop sprinkler in the Eye for Why competition as noted in the summer 2007 issue of Innovation, the quarterly design publication of The Industrial Designers Society of America. Utilizing the benefits of both oscillating and traveling sprinklers, Lewin’s RainDrop helps to efficiently water lawns. Sponsored by Dyson, Inc., and the IDSA, Eye for Why, challenges industrial design students to think differently about everyday problems by focusing on function, a philosophy shared by James Dyson, inventor of the revolutionary line of vacuum cleaners bearing his name.
