| Associate Professor of Management Cathy Rusinko’s article, Green Manufacturing: An Evaluation of Environmentally Sustainable Manufacturing Practices and Their Impact on Competitive Outcomes, was recently published in the August issue of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE) Transactions on Engineering Management journal. Prof. Rusinko’s article discusses her study of the relationship between specific sustainable practices and their impact on specific competitive outcomes in the United States commercial carpet industry. Her findings suggest that sustainable manufacturing practices, such as recycling and resource conservation, not only improve the environment, but can also improve the corporate bottom line and increase competitiveness by reducing costs and attracting new customers. Her study was funded by the National Textile Center. Prof. Rusinko is currently investigating the impact of sustainable practices in other industries, including fashion design and textiles. |
