Ecoman and the Skeptic is an “informative, fast-paced and fun” green radio show, Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Sandy Bauers posted in her GreenSpace column Nov. 3. Bauers, who was a guest on the show Oct. 28, said hosts Rob Fleming and Chris Pastore are two “charming fellows” who are well-prepared for each show. Se noted that actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. will be the guest Nov. 4.

PhilaU’s new Biomedical Textile Structures Laboratory, which will develop textiles for medical uses in the human body, was featured in the Philadelphia Business Journal Oct. 30. Researchers will be working to develop a cardiac patch that would be used with stem cells to regenerate heart tissue, in addition to other medical applications. David Brookstein, dean of the School of Engineering and Textiles, was quoted in the story.
The new laboratory also was featured in The Roxborough Review Oct. 21.

PhilaU’s baseball team and athletics department spearheaded a bone marrow drive on Oct. 22 in support of former teammate Kyle Noonan, ‘09, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia, 6ABC reported Oct. 22 on the 5 p.m. news. Almost 500 students signed up for the national bone marrow registry to help those in need of transplants.

Fashion Design graduate Althea Pappas, ‘09, had two of her bridal gowns featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer’s I Magazine Oct. 22. Pappas’ gowns were selected for the professional fashion shoot after they were showcased at the 2009 Philadelphia University Fashion Show.
