Natalie Weathers, associate professor of fashion industry management, offered some back-to-school shopping strategies for families on the 6ABC 5:30 a.m. news on Aug. 21.   In the current economic crunch, she said, “the consumer is being very savvy and they’re scoping out what their options are.”  One option: big-name designers are offering lower-cost clothing lines sold at discount retailers such as Target and Kohl’s.  “They’re coming to the masses,” Weathers said.
