Natalie Weathers, associate professor of fashion industry management, offered some back-to-school shopping strategies for families on the 6ABC 5:30 a.m. news on Aug. 21. In the current economic crunch, she said, “the consumer is being very savvy and they’re scoping out what their options are.” One option: big-name designers are offering lower-cost clothing lines sold at discount retailers such as Target and Kohl’s. “They’re coming to the masses,” Weathers said.

Men’s Basketball Coach Herb Magee, the winningest DII coach in NCAA history, will be inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in November, reports the Aug. 19 Roxborough Review. Magee’s inclusion in the fifth class of Hall of Famers was also reported in the Aug. 15 Philadelphia Inquirer and Delaware County Times.
