Niema Golphin named assistant track coach, Inquirer reports

Niema Golphin, an eight-time All-American at Azusa Pacific University, was named PhilaU’s assistant cross country/track coach, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported July 29.
Architectural studies alumna Jennifer Pilgrim is one of twelve new 2010 hires by Skanska USA Building Inc., according to a business story in the July 25 Philadelphia Inquirer. Pilgrim was hired in June as a project engineer. Bucking the national downturn in the industry, the Blue Bell, Pa., based firm is a “national construction company with ambitions of being a dominant player here once building regains its nerve,” the story said. Pilgrim returned to PhilaU in June 2009 to pursue a master’s degree in construction management.
PhilaU fashion design students who won the American Heart Association’s Red Dress Design Competition were featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer July 14. The three top winning designs were modeled in a fashion show at the June 11 Go Red for Women Luncheon. A photo of PhilaU designer Cecily Salinas’ short red dress, whic won second-place and People’s Choice awards, was featured in the story, modeled by PhilaU student Katie Possage.
Wilhelmina modeling agency, which opened a Philadelphia office recently, provided models for the Philadelphia University fashion show in May, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported July 14 in a story on the agency’s new local office.
Five PhilaU student-athletes were named Academic All-Stars for 2009-2010, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported July 13. In addition, Tyler Mentzer was named player of the year for baseball. The other PhilaU Academic All-Stars are Thomas Ferree-Gooding, Carolyn Steinberg and Briana Zelinski for rowing, and Daniela Rodriguez for tennis. The All-Stars, who excel both as students and athletes, are chosen by the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association.
