Weekly Spring 2019 Semester Reading and Implementation Groups

Diversity, Inclusivity and Social Justice in the Classroom and on Campus (Book To Be Determined in Jan 2019)
Facilitators: Susan Frostén, MArch and Jeffrey Ashley, PhD
Date: Every Friday (beginning Jan 25; ending April 26, 2019)
Time: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm (lunches included)
Location: Common Thread Fishbowl (KCC106), Kanbar Campus Center
This reading and implementation group will read a book centric to diversity, social justice, and inclusivity issues in the classroom and on campus. Additional selected readings and viewings, and weekly discussions will allow participants to reflect, learn, and implement strategies to enhance a safe and respectful learning environment while fostering honest and mindful discussion between your students and you.

James Lang's "Cheating Lessons: Learning from Academic Dishonesty"
Facilitator: Anne Bower, PhD
Date: Every Tuesday (beginning Jan 22; ending April 22, 2019)

Location: Common Thread Fishbowl (KCC106), Kanbar Campus Center
Committing to every Tuesday in the spring semester, a group of faculty and staff congregate over free lunch to discuss and implement strategies from James Lang's "Cheating Lessons: Learning from Academic Dishonesty".  Participants implement teaching and learning strategies in their current courses and report back to the group regarding observations and outcomes.

Susan Cain's "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking"
